Samsung seems to be on a spree of announcing latest handsets. It has revealed the Samsung B7350 Omnia PRO 4 recently and now, Wave 2 pro is also announced. The Samsung S5330 Wave 2 Pro is similar to its predecessor Samsung S8500 Wave as it is also powered by the Bada operating system and includes the preloaded applications of the company. Here, also you will get the Wi-Fi® support and an application of the social hub that amalgamates with the address book. The factor that differentiates the latest Wave2 is the inclusion of the QWERTY keyboard. Therefore, the users can enjoy the effectiveness of touch screen and the power of texting with the full on QWERTY. The device will be available in different colours, which will appeal to the buyers to choose the preferred shade. The announcement of the device has been made in the month of June and the expected release period is August 2010. The official specifications are out and here we are presenting a pre-release review of Samsung Wave 2 Pro. We will update this space with more specific details after the phone hits the market.
Look and Display
Even the best of the mobile phones consider the look-factor as it plays a big role to inspire the buyer to make a purchase. A good looking handset always catches the attention of the buyers and all the specs and features are judged afterwards. If the look fails to create interest then the chances of successful sell-out becomes low. From the pictures of Wave 2 Pro that we have, the handset genuinely looks very attractive. It is said there will be different colour cases of the handset, but the revealed picture that shows off the black model, successfully steals your heart with the sheer elegance of its looks.
The new Samsung product is a side slider as it slid-open towards the right to display its full QWERTY keyboard. The key spacing of the QWERTY seems to be spacious, which is good for easy and fast typing experience. The texters will have a good experience of typing messages over the phone. The entire frontal part of the mobile phone is dominated by the touch screen display. On the top of the screen, there is the Samsung logo and at the bottom of the screen, you will find the important keys like call button, end button and menu key. Now, let’s take a look at the display functionality of S5330. It features huge touch screen display of 3.2 inches and the type of the display is TFT capacitive. It provides 256,000 colours and a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. The very own user interface of Samsung, TouchWiz UI 3.0 is present in the handset. It also includes accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate.
Network and Connectivity
Good network support is expected from the leading mobile phone manufacturer like Samsung. The users of Wave 2 Pro S5330 will get access to the network support of quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900. However, the major drawback seems to the exclusion of 3G by the company. When all the smart phones of this category are offering 3G support, we have to wait and see how Samsung S5330 Wave 2 Pro performs after its release. However, the absence of 3G can make the device less expensive and it might prove to be advantageous.
Internet browsing is decent due to the presence of Wi-Fi® 802.11 b/g/n. Apart from that, there are Class 10 GPRS and EDGE that provide the speed of 32 – 48 kbps and 236.8 kbps respectively. The mobile phone is supportive of various messaging options such as Email, Push Email, Instant Messaging, and RSS. The users can enjoy using these applications by connecting Wi Fi. Data transferring to/from the other compatible handsets is possible with the usage of microUSB v2.0 and Bluetooth® v2.1. Therefore, Samsung Wave 2 Pro is supportive of both cable-based and wireless data transfer facilities.
Smart phones must be loaded with a good memory support. There are several functions and applications in a smart phone that captures a lot of memory space. If the memory is low, then the users will not be able to enjoy many vital features of a mobile phone. S5330 Wave 2 Pro is a smart phone, and hence it also needs to support of a good memory option. The device can support up to 16 GB of memory and the microSD™ card slot is to be used for expanding the storage capacity. The 80 MB internal memory is capable of storing the entries of phone book and call records.
